EU PoliciesProposal WritingHorizon Europe work programmes 2025

Everyone in the European R&I community is wondering when the new 2025 work programmes for Horizon Europe will be published.

So far, we know that the European Commission’s next set of Horizon Europe work programmes will be delayed until next year, with the 2025 programme expected around late March or early April 2025. The delay is due to the need for the new Commission to confirm it, which won’t happen until the end of the first quarter of 2025. This delay primarily affects large collaborative research projects under Pillar II, while other components, like the European Research Council and the European Innovation Council, will proceed as planned.

Nine new partnerships will launch next year, focusing on areas such as brain health, cultural heritage, solar power, and textiles. These partnerships aim to support EU policy and innovation goals, combining expertise and funding from the Commission, public, and private sectors. Co-programme partnerships will start in the last quarter of this year, with calls opening in 2025, while co-funded partnerships will begin in 2026.
